Pembroke Mayor Judy Cook (front row far left) and Richmond Hill Mayor Richard Davis (front row far right) are two of the many local dignitaries on hand to recieve Bryan County's banner proclaiming Bryan as as Entrepreneur Friendly county.

Representatives from the Georgia Department of Economic Development met with the Business Bryan committee July 10 to award the designation.

Bryan County earned a designation by the state of Georgia as an Entrepreneur Friendly county. Representatives of the Georgia Department of Economic Development met with members of the Business Bryan committee Tuesday to review the county's work and award the designation.

A group of local business people came together in March 2007 to form Business Bryan. Led by the Richmond Hill/Bryan County Chamber of Commerce, Business Bryan recognized the importance of small businesses to the future of Bryan County, and set forth with a goal to create a culture and environment that encourages and supports new business growth.

Business Bryan worked with the Georgia Department of Economic Development's Entrepreneur and Small Business Office in their effort to become one of only 15 counties in the state that qualified for the Entrepreneur Friendly designation.

The five-step process to qualify for the designation includes identifying existing local resources, examining the existing entrepreneurial base, surveying business owners and interviewing selected entrepreneurs, then compiling the information and meeting with the state department, which reviews the report.
