A sketch of the proposed building site.
It's not the Mega-Site itself, but the business park leading into the site is getting off the ground with the approval of the site plan for its first tenant.

Pooler City Council heard from Jamie Csizmadia of Kern-Coleman who presented a request for a 15,000 square-foot office/warehouse space to be located on a 15.05 acre parcel along the entrance road to the Mega-Site. The building itself is to be located on a three acre portion of the site, with the remaining acreage to be developed at a later time.

According to the submitted plans, the building is slated to be the future home of HD Supply - Waterworks. HD Supply is the new name for the wholesale division of Home Depot. HD Supply serves professional customers of all sizes - including contractors, municipalities, builders, government entities, industrial businesses and maintenance professionals - with a continuum of products and services, from infrastructure and construction to maintenance, repair and remodel. The organization has nearly 1,000 locations across the United States and in Canada, and more than 26,000 associates, with projected 2006 sales of $12 billion.

The Waterworks division of HD Supply, according to their website, distributes a complete line of water, sewer, fire protection, water systems and storm drain products to serve the needs of both contractors and municipalities in all aspects of the water and wastewater industries. These products are integral to building, repairing and maintaining water and wastewater systems and serve as part of the basic municipal infrastructure required to support population and economic growth, and residential and commercial construction.

Despite the presentation of plans to Pooler City Council, the home office of HD Supply could not confirm plans to build in Pooler, so no opening date, employment data or investments costs can be reported at this time.

The only change made to the plans presented to city council involved expanding the buffer at the back of the property to give the Savannah & Ogeechee Canal more space. The plans originally called for a 20-foot buffer, but the developers agreed to expand that to 100-feet, measured from the middle of the canal.
